The now African day was originally established in 1963 as African Freedom Day, this
year’s Africa Day falls on 28 May 2007 and took place at Trafalgar Square. Inspired by the rich tapestry of colours and
textures of a continent, is a free one-day festival to celebrate the positive contributions of London’s African
communities to life in the capital.
It features some live music, showcasing the rhythms and instruments of the continent. The leading performer of this
